Flyers Earn Rebound 2-0 Shutout Win Over Walkerton Capitals

The Goderich Flyers bounced back with a critical 2-0 shutout victory over the Walkerton Capitals on October 12th, just one day after a tough loss to Hanover. With this win, the Flyers regained their footing as they head into a long stretch of road games.

First Period: Defensive Stalemate
The first period saw both teams create chances, but neither was able to find the back of the net. Strong goaltending on both sides kept the game scoreless.

Second Period: Flyers Break Through, Controversial No-Goal
The Flyers finally broke the deadlock at 4:42 when Leland Weber buried a top-corner snipe on the power play, assisted by Ryan McGee and Jack Stecho. Walkerton appeared to tie the game later in the period, but a potential goal was waved off after officials ruled the net was off its moorings, keeping the Flyers’ lead intact.

Third Period: Galbraith Shines, MacDonald Seals the Win
Brady Galbraith was outstanding in net, making key saves, particularly in the third period as Walkerton pressed hard to tie the game. The Flyers maintained discipline in their defensive play, locking down the neutral zone and preventing any major scoring chances. Kaeden MacDonald added an empty-netter at 19:45 to secure the win. MacDonald’s goal also ties him with fellow rookie Kingston Powell for the team scoring lead, with both sitting at 9 points.

Final Thoughts
This shutout was a huge confidence boost for both the team and goaltender Brady Galbraith, who stopped all 46 shots he faced. After a difficult loss the night before, this win was vital to get the Flyers back on track. With several key players out of the lineup, including captain Carson Stutzman, the Flyers showed resilience, and their depth players stepped up to deliver an important win ahead of a long stretch of road games.

Next Games:

  • Friday, October 18th at Mitchell
  • Sunday, October 20th at Fergus

The Flyers will spend the next three weekends on the road, with their next home game on November 9th against the Kincardine Bulldogs.
